    Foam Floor
Mats
Are you considering picking up some foam
floor mats? There are many reasons you may want to
pick up some foam floor mats, they have a variety of
uses. I can tell you one of the reasons I picked some
up for myself was because I had decided to install a home
gym.
You see, I had just bought myself a new
house and decided to turn one of the rooms into a weights
room. I bought a total gym as well as a whole set of
weights from 10 pound all the way up to 100 pound
dumbbells. The last thing I wanted was for all these
dumbbells to drop on the floor and leave indentations, so it
was pretty much essential for me to get some
padding.
The matting I bought was about 1” thick
and was quite easy for me to install. I decided to get
the interlocking foam mat so that I could customize it to
fit my room and that ended up working out quite
well.
If you do get the interlocking foam floor
mats, you can by the stuff based on how many square feet you
want to cover and it’s priced pretty reasonably, especially
if you find a good place online to pick them up from.
In general the more you pick up the better a deal you will
get.
Once I had finished interlocking all the
pieces and cut off the excess, I was pretty much ready to
go, ready to install the gym overtop of it. If I
hadn’t installed this I’d have had to deal with a LOT of
dents and dings all over the place as well as the sound of
me just dropping weights to the floor which I do
often.
But you know, this isn’t the only
application for foam floor mats, you may have a toddler whom
you want to create a safe play area for, or maybe you need
some flooring for gymnastics or for your garage, basement or
deck. This stuff has many different uses and I’m sure
you can think of many more.
When you’re picking up the foam floor
mats, your main areas of concern are going to be the quality
of the rubber, the thickness of the rubber, the ease of
installation as well as the cost for the covering. The
thickness of the mats can vary quite a bit from 3/8” thick
all the way up to 1” thick and the quality of the foam will
dictate whether it will hold up over time.
Of course you’re also going to want to
make sure you get a texture, color and pattern that you like
and that fits in with the room you’re placing it
in.
Whatever reason you’re getting foam floor
mats for, you’re going to want to do a lot of shopping
around before you buy, the overall cost can really add up
when you calculate it out for the size of your
room.
